Eight People, One Job: Your Future
Every case here gets a team, not a file number. These are the people who answer when you call, fight when it counts, and keep you informed the whole way through.
Zach went through the criminal justice system before he ever practiced in it, and built Future First around what he learned: your future comes first. He graduated law school in two years, at the top of his class, and trained at the Maricopa County Public Defender's Office before founding the firm.
Brielle leads the firm's defense practice. A Gideon Fellow at ASU Law, she trained across the Maricopa County Public Defender's Office, the Arizona Federal Defenders Office, and the Arizona Justice Project, and she practices criminal and DUI defense exclusively.
Eddie runs the engine room. As Team Manager he shapes how the firm operates, keeps every moving piece accountable, and pushes the systems that let the legal team focus on exactly one thing: your case.
Megan keeps criminal and DUI cases moving through the system, the firm's first line of defense. She manages deadlines, documents, and court logistics so nothing about your case waits on paperwork.
Trasie has known since childhood she belonged in the legal field, and after her aunt was murdered, the calling became personal. Detail-driven and relentless, she digs through records and transcripts to find the leverage others miss, and treats every client's second chance like it's her own.
Laura holds the details together: filing motions, coordinating with judges' assistants, and running the firm's calendar. If something needs to be somewhere on time, Laura already handled it.
Sophia came to Arizona from Connecticut for ASU, graduating Magna Cum Laude in Psychology with a minor in Criminology. She's often your first conversation with the firm, and she's built that first call to feel like relief.
Marianne makes sure every person who reaches out gets clear direction and timely communication. She prepares consultations, keeps client records organized, and treats every second chance with the care it deserves.
Prevent Unjust Incarceration. Level the Playing Field.
Our mission is simple to say and hard to do: prevent unjust incarceration by leveling the playing field in the criminal justice system. We do it by educating clients about their real options, advocating at every stage, negotiating with prosecutors, challenging evidence, and fighting in court, and refusing to let anyone face the system uninformed or alone.
The vision behind it: a modern defense firm that people trust with the worst week of their life, and remember for what came after it.
Integrity
Honest and forthright about your case, your options, and your realistic outcomes, even when the truth is hard to hear.
Accountability
When we commit to a deadline or a promise, we own it. Mistakes get named and fixed, not hidden.
Transparency
Clear, open communication and timely updates. You always know where your case stands.
Authenticity
Real people, no scripts, no pretense. The team you meet is the team you get.
Empathy
This is one of the hardest moments of your life. You'll be treated like a human being, never a case number.
Built by Someone Who's Been on Both Sides
Zach grew up in Apache Junction, Arizona, and saw early how stereotypes and circumstance decide who gets the benefit of the doubt. He studied Justice Studies at ASU on a full-ride scholarship, then finished law school in two years, at the top of his class, cum laude, the youngest in his graduating class, and the recipient of the Donald E. Lively Mission Pillar Award.
But the credential that matters most isn't framed on a wall: before any of it, Zach faced criminal charges himself and spent time behind bars. He knows what the system looks like from the defendant's chair, the fear, the confusion, the way one accusation threatens everything. He trained at the Maricopa County Public Defender's Office, then founded Future First to be the advocate he needed and didn't have.
